ABOUT DIGON

Company Profile

DIGON Systems is a distribution, training, support and consulting partner for the BUILDER  and the Enterprise SMS suite of asset management tools.

The firm maintains a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) with the Army Corps of Engineers, Construction Engineering and Research Laboratory (ERDC-CERL) for those products.

The company has built a deep expertise in both large-portfolio facility management needs and web-based software services. DIGON Systems focuses 100% on the Sustainment Management System (SMS) suite of products offered by the Army Corps of Engineers.

DIGON Systems is a small business with broad exposure to large BUILDER implementations. While maintaining the largest non-federal BUILDER user, the firm also provides SME support to the Defense Health Agency (DHA), Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA), Air Force Civil Engineering Center (AFCEC), Marine Reserves and many A&E firms.

Kurt Sorensen — President/Owner

Kurt comes from California Polytechnic State University’s Engineering department in San Luis Obispo, CA, and is the founder of DIGON Systems. With a background in both facility management and web-based software services, he has secured a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) to the sustainment management suite developed by the Army Corps of Engineers. This agreement is a distribution, training, and support partnership for the BUILDER, ROOFER, and RAILER asset management tools.

Paul Schowalter — Director of Operations

Paul has over 20 years of project management experience for a variety of architectural and planning projects. After being in charge of over 100 redevelopment projects for municipalities throughout California, Paul personally assessed more properties for redevelopment deficiencies and opportunities than anyone in the state. He developed and refined criteria for field evaluations, and created a public information program that became the standard of the industry. He was the Project Manager for the largest use of BUILDER outside of the military. His extreme attention to detail and ability to shepherd projects to completion are well-suited for the BUILDER environment.

Kelly Lust — Product Designer

With over 20 years of graphic design and marketing experience, Kelly has created many successful branding campaigns, applications, and websites for hundreds of clients in diverse industries. She now funnels her experience into creating a seamless user experience of DIGON’s ever-growing software product suite, managing the annual BUILDER ESMS Summit, and evolving the DIGON brand itself.

Chris Piekarz — Chief Technology Officer

Chris has more than 17 years of software and data solutions development experience, which he has accrued during a career spanning very diverse fields — ranging from oil & gas to one of the country’s leading sports and active-lifestyle technology companies.

His experience before DIGON includes working on projects with US state and Canadian provincial governments to implement and support fish and game licensing management platforms, leading teams in building enterprise data management and reporting solutions, and building numerous custom line-of-business applications for clients in a variety of fields and disciplines. He has been involved in the architecture of most of DIGON’s current software products and remains very hands-on, still coding every day.

Chris’s combination of experience leading large-scale data analytics and business intelligence projects and his years of full-stack software development experience is perfect for the world of facility maintenance and management software.
